About Us

ABOUT US - Our Story

I’m Jake, founder of Legacy Sawyer & Craft. With a small team of craftsmen, I build hardwood tables and other custom furniture meant to become the center of your home. We work out of the Ozarks of southeast Missouri, creating pieces that reflect both our story and yours.

Where It Started

My interest in woodworking began as a kid. When my parents added onto our home, I gathered scrap lumber from the jobsite and used it to build treehouses and backyard projects. They were rough and held together with whatever nails I could find, but it sparked something in me.

As I grew older, my dad and grandpa taught me how to slow down, measure, cut, and build with care. Through 4-H projects, random project requests from family and friends, and countless hours spent in "my corner" of my parents garage, I learned the basics of craftsmanship. In my teens, I started making cedar Adirondack chairs and selling them on Craigslist. It showed me that people appreciated work done by hand and that I enjoyed creating something useful for someone else.

Those early experiences shaped the way I approach furniture today. Simple beginnings, real materials, steady improvement, and an interest in building things that last.

How We Work

Legacy Sawyer & Craft was created with a straightforward purpose - build solid hardwood furniture with care, use good materials, pay attention to details, and treat customers with honesty.

We source our lumber from trusted local suppliers. Each piece is milled, shaped, joined, and finished in our shop by people who care about the work. We use machines where precision matters and our hands where craftsmanship matters. Nothing is mass-produced. Nothing is rushed.

Built for Real Homes and Real Families

A table sees a lot of life. Meals, projects, conversations, celebrations, and normal everyday routines. We build pieces that can handle all of it and stay meaningful for years to come.

Our goal is simple. Create furniture that feels at home in your house and holds up to the way your family lives.

A Personal Experience

When you reach out to us, you talk directly with me or someone from our small team. We walk you through sizes, styles, hardwood options, finishes, and any questions you have. You get updates during the build and clear communication from start to finish.

We want the process to feel personal, not transactional.

From Our Family to Yours

If you’re looking for a hardwood table made with care and intention, we’d be glad to build it. When you’re ready to start, we’re here.
